Josh Nygren, RPC-C:
Josh is a dedicated clinical counsellor at Vernon Counselling, and a member of the Canadian Professional Counselling Association (CPCA). His approach to counselling centers on helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, empowering them to make meaningful changes in their lives. By focusing on understanding and modifying thought patterns, Josh supports clients in achieving their mental health goals and finding more effective ways to cope with life’s challenges, making it easier to visualize and achieve meaningful life goals.
Josh also incorporates mindfulness techniques to foster greater self-awareness, helping clients understand why they experience certain emotions and reactions at specific times. Though his top priority is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel supported, heard and valued, making it easier to explore personal growth and develop healthier patterns of thinking and behavior.

Lauren Howard

Lauren has spent more than 12years supporting clients recovering from childhood and adult traumatic experiences, C-PTSD, and work-related trauma, including burnout, and stress. Lauren also has experience working with outreach and front line employees, the LGBTQ+ community and has a unique understanding of the challenges that these populations face, including vicarious trauma. Lauren works through an emotional and attachment lense, developing a wholistic approach of trauma-informed therapy, drawing from CBT, DBT, neuropsychology and EMDR.As a certified EMDR therapist, Lauren focuses on emotional and physical recovery from trauma symptoms, anxiety and depression from an attachment-focused lens. Lauren uses EMDR because she is consistently amazed by the changes she sees in clients, especially when they have been trying therapy over and over without getting the healing that they are looking for. Lauren builds relationships with her clients through her compassionate approach, supporting them in finding their own strengths and moving towards their goals.

Ms. Kessa Schroeder

Kessa’s journey to counselling began with over 25 years of movement, facilitation and coaching. Her experience working with movement therapeutics, breathwork, and dance provided a deep understanding of our mind/body connection. Her approach is deeply rooted in nervous system regulation using Somatic Experiencing, DBT and CBT. From everyday life to childhood trauma our nervous system is communicating. It shapes with each experience, and it shapes how we show up in the world.
Areas of Kessa’s focus include, Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention, de-escalation, and Intensive Family preservation.
Her somatic approach encompasses interventions to treat a wide range of issues, such as Anxiety, Depression, Neurodiversity, Eating Disorders, and Trauma.
Kessa graduated from the Kelowna College of Professional Counselling with Honours, receiving her Diploma in Applied Psychology specializing in Professional Counselling. Her focus class was Child & Youth Counselling, with an emphasis in Play Therapy. She obtained added training as a Youth Mental Health Specialist with interventions for anxiety, depression, trauma, toxic stress and self-harm.
Kessa serves on the board of directors to the Canadian College of Professional Counselling and Psychotherapists.
She welcomes all individuals, couples, and children/youth over four years old. Kessa includes gender-affirming care for all ages.

In her therapeutic approach, Niquita integrates Emotion Focused therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic work and explores different attachment styles to help you work towards your desired trajectory. Whether you’re grappling with anxiety, depression or if your just going through a tough time and feeling alone, Niquita provides support tailored to your needs with consideration to your autonomy. For those struggling with body dysmorphia, negative self-image, or unhealthy relationships with food, Niquita offers a compassionate space to explore and heal.
Couples facing communication challenges or struggling to find the love and care they used to have find clarity and kindness in her therapeutic space.

Tina Comeau

Tina is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and non-judgemental environment for her clients. She has over 12 years of experience counseling individuals, couples and families. She received her first degree in Physical Education, with a minor in psychology, and later went on to receive an Honours Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling. It was her dream to become a psychologist, as she has always been passionate about helping others and listening without discrimination. Through her years of coaching, guiding and parenting, she formed a strong foundation for her counselling career. She is now an experienced counsellor and has her Master Therapeutic Counsellor designation. Although she specializes in CBT, she has a very integrated approach and draws from various techniques and modalities to adapt to each individuals needs. She is a registered member of the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada, and has a very flexible schedule to adapt to the needs of her clients.
